Week ending 1/4

Monday 26/3 - Pulled up pretty well from yesterdays star. Ran down to Marrickville Oval and did 10 effort laps with half lap recovery. Really solid run, a great oval with good lights(when on!) and a nice even well grassed surface. 10.5kms

Tuesday 27/3 - Ran at lunch and did a new loop around the Uni and Vic Park for 43 minutes - 10.2kms. Tried to stick to grass surfaces as much as possible.

Wednesday 28/3 - Belter of a run. 19kms in 79 minutes around the big bay loop. Really got into the zone tonight, with great rythym, felt like pushing a bit harder at times but just wanted to keep focussed on rythym. In particular after the first km was a 4.50 the rest were really swift. Exactly what I wanted, almost a tempo run. Has a bit of everything, some pinching climbs, rolling hills and a good amount of flat stretches. Will mark this in the diary as a turning point I reckon.

Thursday 29/3 - 6*1km repeats. Ran in very light misty rain at lunch, quite humid but the temperature wasnt too bad. The track I used measured about 1025 metres with 90 second recoveries. Reps were all 3.40 - 3.44, with the majority at 3.41. Ran these around the 2 footy fields at St Johns Oval. A bit bumpy and the grass is quite long, but a nice spot to do these. The legs were feeling a bit shabby from the previous day but you know you are going to hurt anyway - and it did! 9kms

Friday 30/3 Didnt end up running, had lunch with the hugs and kisses and the tin lids instead.

Sat 31/3 - Hooked up with Steve to run in Cent Park and ran 4 laps of the inside trail, finished in 59.05 with each lap getting progressively quicker. Very pleasant place to run but a bloody good hitout. 14.4kms

Sun 1/4 Davidson Recreation Star 29.8kms in 2.26. Incredibly difficult run this. Absolutely at you for the duration. In particular the section around Clontarf along Deepwater should be renamed deep pain as it is relentless hills. The bush track section was an enjoyable finish but hard yakka, quite bumpy and I had absolutely no chance of hanging onto the billygoats along here. Great to have a good quality hill run under the belt. Also a brilliant group to run in with lots of laughs, plenty of knowledge and not a good sort in cooie! Thanks to 26, Steve H, Paul J, Flakey, Sean A, Ron S etc for a great morning out. My legs arent so fond of you lot though!

A much better week of running than the last. Must ride the troughs like last week a bit better but its good to record it. Some new shoes and a plan to run a bit more on grass paid off. 93kms for the week.
